A new journey begins … today

The Nerikson Contest is over, the holiday is finished, and normal life has returned.

Naturally, this means starting the next miniature project before the suitcase is properly unpacked.

For the pevious competition, I had already printed a figure from the Nerikson portfolio: Lia vs the Giant, in 140 mm scale.

A massive stone giant facing a woman in battle.

Small Hero, Very Large Problem

What fascinates me most about this model is its energy.

The giant is heavy, brutal and almost immovable. Lia, by comparison, is small, fast and determined. The contrast between the two characters creates the entire story before a single drop of paint has been applied.

A stone colossus against one woman.

It should look hopeless.

Instead, Lia somehow appears to be the dangerous one.

A Project With Real Presence

At 140 mm, the scene offers plenty of space for details, textures and ambitious decisions that I may later regret.

The stone giant will need convincing weight and structure. Lia must remain the visual focus without being overwhelmed by the much larger figure behind her. The composition already has enormous power, and the painting will need to support that rather than compete with it.

At least, that is the current plan.

Plans are always very impressive before the primer is applied.

For now, the model is printed and ready. The next journey from grey resin to finished competition piece has officially begun.

And this time, the opponent is literally a giant.
